Islamic Lifestyle · 6 min readRamadan is often called "the month of the Quran" because it was during this blessed month that the Quran began its revelation to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This connection makes Ramadan the most spiritually potent time to deepen your relationship with the Quran.
Multiplied Rewards: The Prophet ﷺ said that reciting even a single letter of the Quran carries reward, and this reward is multiplied manifold during Ramadan. Many scholars recite the entire Quran multiple times during this month.
Tarawih and Nightly Recitation: Taraweeh prayers, where large portions of the Quran are recited nightly, allow the community to collectively experience the entire Quran within the month.
Setting a Daily Khatm Goal: Completing one Khatm (full read-through) of the Quran during Ramadan requires reciting roughly one Juz per day. Breaking this into smaller daily goals makes it achievable even for busy schedules.
Reflection Over Speed: While completing recitation is virtuous, scholars emphasize that reflecting on the meaning (Tadabbur) transforms mere recitation into a life-changing spiritual practice.
Family Quran Circles: Ramadan is an excellent time to establish family Quran circles after Iftar, where children and parents recite together, reinforcing both bonding and learning.
Continuing the Habit Beyond Ramadan: The ultimate goal is for the increased devotion of Ramadan to become a lasting habit carried into the rest of the year, keeping your heart consistently connected to Allah's words.
